INTRODUCTION

 

History

 

Association of Defense for Women Rights (ADWR) has been formally known as women legal organization in Balkh.  ADWR was established by twelve civil society active actors in Balkh and legally registered with Ministry of Justice on 22 August 2002 in Afghanistan. ADWR performs as social, legal, non-governmental and non profit organization within country in order to bring lasting improvements in women’s lives.

 

Vision

 

ADWR looks forward to a society away from every kind of physical and mental violence against women, and women’s equal role with men in building of independent and prosper Afghanistan.

 

Mission

 

ADWR struggles for women rights. We deliver immediate and lasting social and legal improvements to women’s lives, ensuring gender equality and supports civil society actors to advocacy for a nonviolent country.

 

ADWR Core Values:

ADWR Strategic Aims

 

·     Expand media programs regarding public awareness on women rights in Islamic and International Environments.

·     Provide social services like education, income generation and health programs for women ensuring women’s participation as well as empowerment.

·     Provide legal aid/assistance to assist women in legal affairs.

·     Organize foundation with national and international key stakeholders based on finding approaches in conflict resolutions.

·     Building capacities of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to work for a society that is equitable to all.

·     Organize advocacy initiatives to force on governmental and community level policies, to bring the better conditions on women’s lives.

 

Programs

 

Obtaining the mentioned strategic aims, ADWR follows programs consisted Conflict Resolutions, Social Services, Strengthening Civil society and Advocacy.
